Therapeutic Design

The healing properties of nature have been understood through out history, from the earliest forms of sacred wells and trees to current studies on the recovery rates of patients in hospitals.

The link between wellbeing and nature is at the core of the therapeutic spaces we design, that heighten the natural therapeutic impact of gardens for clients. The impact can be through passive enjoyment or active participation in the nurturing of a garden or landscape, contributing to their wellbeing. The term “nurturing” is the key to successful therapeutic design.

These gardens become spaces for recovery and learning, guided by the talents of a horticultural therapist. They collaborate to improve the lives of people with individual challenges, by involving them in the process of gardening and the nurturing of plants. The garden and its design becomes the tools through which the therapy evolves.
