I am actively engaged in research and interpretation of the landscape through both writing and teaching. I combine current thinking and historic understanding of the role that landscape plays in our lives and bring my own interpretation of our understanding of place and how this can influence our lives today.

Cirencester Park, Cirencester.
After a recent visit I have become completely obsessed with this 18th century parkland estate. Created by Earl Bathurst in collaboration with Alexander Pope, it remains largely unchanged. Marking the start of the move from formal design to the natural, it was inspired by the words “submit to nature and not nature to his design” (Stephen Switzer) and remains one of England’s most significant landscapes.
My research is on going, with a lecture and an article in the development.
