With the construction of a new science building by BGS Architects, the University recognised that the central open space would no longer match the quality that the University wanted to be recognised for in its approach to building and design.
We were asked, with BGS, to redesign the central space to reflect the long term aspirations of the University and to improve the student experience.
There were a number of challenging requirements that had to be met as well as a need to maintain vehicle access for deliveries across the space, in direct conflict with student movement patterns.
